All eyes were on Hollywood last night as the Oscars touched down with a star-studded showcase of the best in film – and fashion. From chic couples to gorgeous gowns to beautiful baubles, the evening was as much about who’s wearing who, as it was about who won what. And when it comes to hair, it was THE place to spot the hottest trends.
According to Frank Barbosa, celebrity stylist and lead hairstylist on the upcoming film Sex and The City 2, this year’s Tinseltown extravaganza was about three key looks: free-flowing waves, voluminous curls, and messy updos. “It was definitely a tribute to unstructured glamour,” he reveals.
But as lavish as the Academy Awards are, they’re also about environmental awareness. With hybrid cars replacing limos as the transportation of choice and some celebrities committing to sustainable designs, the event has become more eco-friendly over the years.
Loose curls and luscious waves proved to be ‘mane’ themes at this year’s Academy Awards as screen sirens Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet strode towards the Kodak Theatre showing off voluminous and shapely coifs. “Those with naturally curly or wavy hair, should embrace what they have and work with it,” Barbosa advises. Amplify and lock in your natural waves and curls with two essential styling products from ESSENSITY. ESSENSITY Styling Juice boosts body and works well with heating tools to protect hair from damage, while ESSENSITY Volumising Pudding creates larger than life hair to bring out the best in curls and waves.
Messy updos also took centre stage at last night’s ceremony, with starlets Miley Cyrus and Kristen Stewart wearing swept up yet relaxed styles. “Hair is still being worn up but now more fluid than ever, not so tight and pulled,” explains Barbosa. To create this head-turning look, ESSENSITY Texturizing Mud offers definition and pliability so hair can move without being restricted by stiffness or stickiness.
