ESSENTIAL LOOKS from Schwarzkopf Professional brings you ECCENTRIC VINTAGE, one of four NEW visual moods from the Eclectic Collection for Autumn/ Winter 2008-09. ESSENTIAL LOOKS has a proven track record in translating catwalk couture into a commercial reality and is now celebrating eleven years of success. Each season a handpicked team of Schwarzkopf Professional Session Hairdressers immerse themselves in the fashion weeks of London, Paris, Milan and New York, and emerge inspired to create a collection of distinct trends that will lead hairdressers and their salon clients to progress their personal style for the coming season.
“The colour inspiration for ECCENTRIC VINTAGE came from the women you see in 18th Century portraits, who are quite austere but have these very flowery up-dos. So, I used lots of soft titians and soft brunettes,” says Lesley Lawson, Schwarzkopf Professional Colour Expert, who created colour trends for ESSENTIAL LOOKS A/W 2008-09.
Steve Hogan, Creative Director for Schwarzkopf Professional Essential Looks says: “The main thing about the Eclectic Collection for Essential Looks is that it really is four very different looks. There is something in this collection for every single person. Whether it’s the elegant simplicity of Sculptured Form; the pretty craziness of Eccentric Vintage; Gothic Romance’s brooding and mysterious air; or the beauty, freshness and natural innocence of Country Life. Essential Looks is about seasonal trends, it’s about fashion, but it’s also about having fun.”
ESSENTIAL Elements of Eccentric Vintage: Feminine and unexpected. Mismatched proportions and eccentric layering. Ponytails, braids and loose dressings.
Eccentric Vintage is one of four key trend directions from the ESSENTIAL LOOKS Eclectic Collection for Autumn/Winter 2008-09. This unconventional and whimsical trend teams breathtakingly feminine vintage pieces with structured corsetry and sportswear, resulting in a look that is unconventional and highly individual. Summed up by John Galliano’s flea market approach to the season, which mixed retro coats with delicate sheers and overtly feminine rose prints, in hair this trend translates into romantic styles such as braiding and loose up-dos, and soft warm shades. While hair is worn up to give the feeling of a couture finish, punkish undertones, side details, and asymmetrical shapes add a contemporary edge. Utterly feminine, yet strong and modern, this look is all about finding the precious in surprising collusions of colour, shape and texture.
