LACOSTE Lifestyle is elegance, refinement and comfort. Although the Lacoste Look may be known as “strictly preppy” to some and appears to be a line meant only for the bourgeois, this is not the case. It seems LACOSTE is reshaping with a new image taking this ‘club house’ reputation to the city for a fabulous make-over. At the Fall ’07 Fashion Show, held in a chic venue of downtown Toronto, models playfully strutted down the runway to music by some of the hottest pop and hip-hop artists, like Beyonce, Rihanna and Jay-Z, which suggests that the new look for LACOSTE is urban-inspired. The collection appears more vibrant and trendy than before. Clothes are less perfect, more relaxed and easy going, allowing room for individual personalities to shine through. Most notably, LACOSTE is adding more colours to its fall collection than it previously was known for.
After the show ended, I met with Christine Cameron, a featured Ford model (Ford Models Inc. is one of Torontoís most prestigious model recruitment agencies). Christine shared her thoughts on the new look for LACOSTE: “LACOSTE definitely put some colours in there; its pretty colours they needed to put in and thatís what they’re doing. They added pinks, greens, blues and whites.”
Christine Cameron is one of the female models that grabbed my attention with her LACOSTE outfits; she wore a fitted sweater with black, gray and white horizontal lines under a long black fall jacket leading to the bottom of her thighs. She rocked skinny jeans tucked into flat black boots that rose to the top of her calves. The look, very structured, edgy and sleek, was well-suited for Christine Cameron, who stands nearly six feet tall. She explains her look by saying, “They [LACOSTE] have long jeans perfect for tall girls like myself! They are taking their designs to another level. The concept is really not ‘LACOSTE style,’ but I love it, it’s my style now!”
I observed this change in a male model; he made quite a colourful display by rocking a long-sleeved sweater decorated with big and bold blue, aqua and baby blue horizontal stripes. This brilliant look adorned the black wool and acrylic blended jacket worn over it perfectly. The scarf which matched the sweater perfectly, hung asymmetrically over the jacket and the set was paired with dark blue jeans and completed with casual white shoes (a look suited for a LACOSTE dresser).
It’s easy to fall in love with the new fall fashions for LACOSTE; it symbolizes the concept of refinement with the perfect combination of elegance and trend. The participating crew members were happy with the LACOSTE Fall Collection, and were proud to display the new pieces that will be added to the LACOSTE Lifestyle . . . . And they have a feeling that you too will be satisfied. From what I’ve seen, I think they’re right!
